When to Book Family Photos So Your Holiday Cards Actually Show Up on Time

Family Posed at Manchester State Park during Fall

Every year a very brave parent asks me for a December session with cards in mailboxes by Christmas. I admire the optimism. Santa has better odds.

Here is the real timeline, working backward from a card in Grandma’s hands in mid December. Cards should mail the first week of December. Printing takes about a week, and you want a few days to pick the photo and triple check the spelling of everyone’s names. Your gallery needs time after the session. Which means the family photos themselves need to happen in October, when Kitsap light is at its best anyway and the maples do half the decorating for us.

At Nautical Moments we plan the whole session around your crew, help with outfits, and handle the kid wrangling so you can just be in the photos.

And that is the part I will gently push on. Be in them. No kid ever looked back at a holiday card and wished Mom had stayed behind the camera.

October dates are filling now. Message Nautical Moments Photography and let us get your card photo done early. For the full week by week plan, here is our Kitsap holiday card countdown.

Fully guided sessions, a professional editing team behind every image, and a private reveal where you choose finished artwork for your walls. That is the difference between hiring a photographer and booking an experience.

Let’s bring your vision to life! Fill out the form below to ask any questions, share your story, or start planning your session. I’m here, ready when you are.
