Before we ever pick up a camera, we connect. Sometimes that is a quick phone call, sometimes a video call, and sometimes we meet in person. Whatever is easiest for you works for me. When should you book?
The short answer is earlier than you think. Senior portrait season in Kitsap County gets busy in late summer and fall, and the prettiest light and color books up first. If you have a season or a backdrop in mind, planning a few months ahead gives us the best shot at it. You can bring up to five outfits, and we mix it up on purpose: something casual, something dressy, maybe something formal, and at least one look that is pure personality. One location, up to five backdrops
We keep your session in one city or area, and within it we use up to five different backdrops so your gallery has real variety without anyone feeling rushed across town. We might move from a wooded trail to the waterfront to a city wall, all in one place. The shoot itself: two relaxed hours
Your session includes two hours of coverage, which is plenty of time to move through your looks without feeling hurried, and if you want more time it is available. We usually aim for the hour or so around golden hour, when the light is soft and flattering. Here is the part that puts everyone at ease: you do not need to know how to pose. I guide you the whole way with natural, confident, flattering direction, the same way I did for Zach’s session. How to prepare the week before
A little prep goes a long way, and none of it is complicated. In the days before your session:
- Steam or press every outfit so nothing photographs wrinkled.
- Lay your looks out the night before, accessories and shoes included, so the morning is calm.
- Keep jewelry simple so the focus stays on you.
- Bring comfortable shoes for walking between backdrops, plus the cute ones for photos.
- Polished hair and makeup photograph beautifully and help you feel put together, so plan for them if that is your style.
- Drink water, get some rest, and eat before we shoot so you feel your best.
That is genuinely it. Show up prepared and confident, and I will guide the rest.
Then comes the reveal
About two weeks after our shoot we meet for your reveal, and that is when you see your images for the first time. Your photos are professionally edited and retouched by my team beforehand, so everything is finished and ready. From there you select the image for the 11 by 16 print that comes with your session, and you get to see our collections along with our a la carte options for products, including albums, prints, and digitals. There is no pressure. We simply help you choose the ones worth printing and holding onto, because these are the photos you will look back on for decades, not files lost on a phone.
Frequently asked questions
Is the consultation a Zoom call? It can be, but it does not have to be. We connect by phone, video call, or in person, whatever is easiest for you. The point is the conversation, not the format.
How long is a senior session? Two hours of coverage, with more available if you want it at an additional hourly rate.
How many outfits can I bring? Up to five, and I will help you plan a mix that feels like you.
Do I need to know how to pose? Not at all. Guiding you is my whole job.
