Yes, Bring the Dog to Family Photos

Extended family standing in the window openings of an old stone structure with their dogs in autumn

The family member most likely to nail the pose on the first try has four legs and zero opinions about outfits.

Families ask us all the time if the dog can come. The answer is yes, and here is how to make it easy. Bring a leash and appoint one designated dog wrangler for the between moments. Keep treats in a pocket, not a crinkly bag, unless you want every frame staring at the bag. We do the dog frames early, while the energy is still adorable, and then the pup gets a break while the humans finish.

And if the dog decides the session is over, the session is over for the dog. No stress, no forcing it. One great frame with the whole crew is the win, and we usually get five.

At Nautical Moments dogs are welcome at our park sessions, and we build the plan around them from the first call.

Ten years from now, the frame with the dog in it is the one everybody fights over. Bring the dog.
